SPA/RAC is launching a call for consultancy aiming at the development of a post-2020 regional strategy for marine protected areas (MPAs) and other effective area-based conservation measures (OECMs) in the Mediterranean

In December 2019, the 21st Meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention and its Protocols (COP 21) adopted a decision requesting the Secretariat to elaborate an ambitious and transformational post-2020 regional strategy for marine protected areas and other effective area-based conservation measures in the Mediterranean, in line with the post-2020 global biodiversity framework of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and other regional and global processes, and in consultation with relevant global and regional organizations, for consideration by the Contracting Parties at their COP 22 (December 2021).

Having the lead within the UNEP/MAP-Barcelona Convention system on the marine and coastal protected areas and biodiversity component, SPA/RAC is launching a call for the provision of consultancy services for the elaboration of a new regional strategy for MPAs and OECMs in the Mediterranean region, for the post-2020 era.

Proposals must be received by email at car-asp@spa-rac.org, no later than Wednesday 20 January 2021, at 23:59 UTC+1 (Tunis Time).
