Pursuant to the requests of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity in decisions X/29 and XI/17, the Regional Workshop of the Mediterranean region to Facilitate the Description of Ecologically or Biologically Significant Marine Areas (EBSAs) is being convened in Malaga (Spain) from 7 to 11 April 2014 by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Barcelona Convention / Mediterranean Action Plan and its center in charge of the Biodiversity conservation (RAC/SPA), with logistical and technical support provided by the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation (IUCN-Med, and with financial support from the Government of Spain, the Mediterranean Trust Fund (MTF) of the Barcelona Convention/Mediterranean Action Plan, and the European Commission.
