The texts in this document represent brief summaries of the different presentations given by various members of the MedPAN Project, focusing on the preparation and use of management plans for Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and finally on the evaluation of these management plans at this second workshop of the MedPAN network.Through these proceedings we aim to show which are the different methods which have been carried out by each MPA when it comes to preparing and putting into use their management plan as well as its evaluation, the importance of taking into account the participation of local stakeholders, those responsible of the different activities affected by the management plan (fisheries, local tourism, water sports...).Also we will introduce the conclusions of three working groups which brainstormed on the following issues: 1/ What are the criteria for zoning? 2/ What is essential in a participation process? 3/ What is specific to MPAs in management planning? Do we need a specific model of management plan for MPAs? Aiming to make this an easy and manageable document we have only included summaries of the participants presentations, as well as some of the most relevant questions and answers.
